 An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance assistant to join the administrative team at Claremont Primary School. You will be required to support the work of the School Business Manager whilst also offering support to the 'front of house team'. The post requires a candidate with proven financial experience, ideally within a school environment. The hours are 20 per week for 40 weeks of the school year. The preferable deployment plan would be 5 mornings although other options could be considered at interview with the shortlisted candidates.

Main areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the School Business Manager in the business of the school
  • Responsibility for the compliant processing of all financial purchasing from budget holder request forms, purchase orders, delivery notes, invoicing and BACS processing; in-line with all financial policies and procedures
  • Responsibility for all external school lettings in-line with our lettings policy and procedures
  • Responsibility for asset management using our asset management platform
  • Support in the reporting and recording of all first aid incidents and working closely with the Deputy headteacher in booking all training
  • Work closely with the Educational Visits Coordinator and teaching staff to support all school trips and visits
  • Working closely with the admin & premises team as required

  • enjoyment of financial processes
  • understanding and awareness of the importance of compliant processes
  • excellent communication and IT skills, both written and oral to include Microsoft Office and Excel
  • familiarity of school software systems (SIMS/FMS) desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
  • ability to adapt to varying tasks, sometimes under pressure
  • able to prioritise tasks effectively, seeking guidance if required
  • sensitivity and confidentiality as required
  • commitment to equalities and the promotion of diversity in all aspects of working
  • friendly and approachable with the ability to have fun and enjoy work
