Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Literacy

Hours:             Monday-Friday 8.30am-3.30pm (Term-Time only, 39 weeks)

Salary:            £19,000 per annum (actual salary)

Starting:          September 2023

Closing:          9am, Tuesday 18th April 2023


An opportunity has arisen to join the English Department as a Specialist Learning Support Assistant, focusing on Literacy support.  The position will see you as part of a core subject team as well as supporting pastorally in a Tutor group.

The successful candidate needs to be creative, well-organised and have the ability and skills to successfully build a good rapport with students in order to deliver dynamic one-to-one lessons to a diverse range of students. You may have to cover members of the English Department during absences and teach some lessons independently.

A secure knowledge of English skills and grammar, along with an awareness of/ or willingness to learn the Functional Skills specifications would be advantageous.

Experience of SEN/SEMH related strategies and programmes would be welcomed.

All of our learners have EHCPs and as a school we are proud to promote the development of life skills and social development as equal to academic achievement.  West Heath School work towards the end goal of helping students re-integrate into mainstream learning and preparation for adulthood.
