We are a large inclusive primary school and require a skilled and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support autistic children in our new Specialist Resource Provision (SRP). This is a fantastic opportunity to join a talented and positive team in a brand new, purpose-built learning environment to provide support for our autistic children in our SRP with all aspects of their education. The SRP Teaching Assistant will work under the direction and guidance of the SRP Lead Teacher and the SRP HLTA and will need a wide range of skills to support our SRP children's needs. The successful candidate will also have a genuine desire to ensure the children they support reach their full potential and have a safe, welcoming and positive learning experience. 

The role is for 30 hours per week (6 hours each day, 8.45am to 3.15pm, Monday to Friday). The pay scale is Kent Range 3 at £19,293 per annum for a full-time position which equates to approximately £13,167 per annum pro rata for this role, plus a SEN allowance of £1422.52 per annum pro rata (total annual salary for this role is therefore £14,480). The post is for 38 weeks per year (term time only) and in addition there will be a payment in respect of the pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to the grade.

A formal 30 minute interview will take place with a panel comprising of members of the Leadership Team. Candidates will also undertake a 25 minute English and Maths test.

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery continues to be a ‘Good’ school with an ‘Outstanding’ judgement in Personal Development, as recognised in our latest Ofsted inspection (November 2023). The inspection found that, ‘pupils behave and concentrate very well in this warm and inclusive school’ and that, ‘the school carefully considers staff workload and well-being.’

We are a large four form entry school to the west of Margate with approximately 775 pupils. We aim to provide a caring, exciting and inclusive learning environment where every child and family really matters with a focus on raising standards alongside the development of the whole child. The school’s values are Perseverance, Aspiration, Respect and Teamwork and all children are familiar with these.

We are a school with a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for Physically Disabled pupils, a KS1 and KS2 satellite class from Foreland Fields School and a further SRP for pupils with Autism.

We are a part of an established Cooperative Trust (Thanet Endeavour Learning Trust), working with Bromstone Primary School, Parkside Community Foundation Primary School and St Mildred’s Primary Infant School. We work closely within our Trust to improve all aspects of our practice, including CPD and support for ECTs.

Our large site comprises of a KS2 and a KS1 building, three large playgrounds and a school field and we continue to invest heavily in our outdoor learning environment which includes an inclusive play area and sports courts.
