Head of Year – Greenacre Academy

Salary: MPS/UPS & TLR 2A (£7,368 per annum)

Required: September 2023

Hours: Full-Time, permanent

Plus a one off joining bonus of £2,000, paid in twelve monthly instalments

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as Head of Year at Greenacre Academy.  As Head of Year you will be responsible for overseeing the academic, pastoral and personal development of a year group of students as well as assuming responsibility for their induction, conduct and behaviour.  You will be able to demonstrate your ability to motivate and inspire both students and staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.  You should have the ability to teach English, Mathematics or Geography (although this is not essential), possessing excellent classroom practice and delivering high quality learning opportunities for the students. You will work closely with the other Heads of Year to ensure consistency of approach and will play a full part in the life of the academy community, supporting its distinctive mission, ethos and policies and encourage staff and students to follow this example.   

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Monitoring and supporting the academic progress, and implementing interventions where necessary
  • Ensuring that pastoral care is of the highest quality, and the needs of all students are met
  • Developing and implementing strategies to promote student well-being, attendance and behaviour
  • Working collaboratively with the senior leadership team to achieve the school’s objectives
