We are very excited to be setting up a Nurture Class within school and are looking for someone to come and work alongside our existing member of staff. The class is being set up initially for up to 4 children and there will be lots of opportunities to engage in Forest School and outdoor learning sessions.

To be successful in the role we are looking for someone who can:

  • Support our children to achieve their full potential
  • Provide mental health and wellbeing support on a 1:1 basis, or as a group as required
  • Work alongside other members of staff modelling positive relationships
  • Provide pastoral support and care
  • Ensure the Nurture Class is a place where all our learners thrive, feel safe, have all their support needs met and are given every opportunity to achieve their potential.

In return we can offer you:

  • The chance to be part of a happy, supportive team
  • The opportunity to be a part of a positive and thriving school community
  • High quality CPD

In our recent Ofsted inspection (January 2023) we were graded Good overall, with Outstanding for Behaviour & Attitudes and Outstanding for Personal Development. If you would like to be part of our very special community and would like more details about this job vacancy, we would be delighted to hear from you and show you around our amazing school.

Information about the school

Hawkhurst is a single form entry primary school in a modern building. The school benefits from spacious classrooms and plentiful resources with exciting school grounds, incorporating a secret garden, an adventure playground, a Forest School, a pond area and a large sports field. Our last Ofsted inspection (January 2023) graded us as Good with Outstanding for Behaviour and Attitudes and Outstanding for Personal Development. Community involvement is considerable with after school clubs and a breakfast club, together with close links with the parish church of St Laurence, Hawkhurst. Our pupils are eager to learn and succeed. Our goal is to EXTEND HORIZONS for everyone and this is achieved through plenty of trips to places of interest and visits from outside speakers, as well as the opportunity to participate in sports tournaments and events. We have a specialist teacher of Music and Physical Education and many children learn a musical instrument and pupils show enjoyment in their playing and singing. We have a huge focus on the Mental Health and Wellbeing of our pupils, staff and parents and we run our own Emotional Wellbeing Pathway which provides support on a range of levels to our whole school community. We are incredibly proud of the work we are doing through this pathway and the impact it is having. The staff team is friendly and caring. We encourage professional development in areas that will enhance the professional skills of our teachers as well as support staff and improve the aims of the school. Prospective members of staff are encouraged to come and meet us and to view the school before making application for a post.
