Five Acre Wood is a successful outward looking and expanding Special School based over 3 sites in and around Maidstone, Kent. We are one of the largest special schools in the country with over 700 pupils on roll aged 2-19 years with profound, severe and complex needs.

Our ‘Outstanding’ school will continue to expand and we are looking for people with a positive approach to join us who share our vision of ‘Only the best will do’ for all our students and staff. We are a Teaching School and part of a collaborative alliance with other special schools. We have been awarded ‘Investors in People - Gold award’ standard, the first school the assessor has awarded this standard at first application in 20 years. This demonstrates we really value our people and want to work with them to fulfil their career ambitions.

We require teachers to join our fabulous, dynamic, creative school. We are looking for drive, enthusiasm and potential to join our friendly, positive and professional school.

The successful candidates will either be experienced and successful SEN teachers who enjoy team working and taking responsibility, ECT's who can demonstrate they are going to add to the school or mainstream teachers who have a desire and passion to move to special needs teaching. We have a history of successful development of all 3 categories. You will benefit from opportunities for further professional development and career progression as we value and support staff in all aspects of school life.

We have a comprehensive induction programme for all staff, you will be assigned a buddy and a mentor. We have a very supportive leadership team. Culture is vital to us, it’s not only what we do but how we do it that matters to us, relationships across the whole school staff team are positive, inclusive and helpful.
