We have an exciting opportunity at Chilton Primary School; we are looking for a Sports Apprentice to join our wonderful staff team.  The right candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and has the desire to help children strive for their very best through engagement in Sport. The workplace learning will take part alongside our Sports Team in conjunction with a specialist training provider.

At the end of the course, the successful candidate will become a fully qualified and experienced Sports Coach Assistant!

Relevant skills and attributes:

  • An interest in, and commitment to, working with children and/or young people
  • A passion for sport and games
  • Some experience of working with children and young people
  • Ability to relate well to children, young people and adults
  • The skills to build an excellent rapport with the children
  • New and original ideas to actively engage children in play, sport and games
  • Motivated to succeed within the job
  • Willing to reflect on their own practice, learn, and apply that learning in the workplace
  • Willing to work as a member of a team and communicate effectively with a range of people
  • Willing to undergo a compulsory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for suitability for working with children and young people.

Above all you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first: children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.

The apprenticeship will commence on the 1st September 2023 and offers 25 hours per week, term time only on a fixed term basis. The apprenticeship will end once the course has been completed.
