This is an exciting and rare opportunity to appoint an ambitious and experienced teacher to act as second in charge of the department. You will work closely with our Director of English to secure consistent and exceptional student experience in English Language and Literature.

We are seeking a candidate who has bold and creative vision, underpinned by a solid base of high quality, engaging teaching and secure subject knowledge.

In partnership with the Director of English you will:

  • Develop a dynamic and inspiring English provision in which both creative expression and practical communication skills are highly valued
  • Be a crucial part of a department leadership team, ensuring high levels of success for teachers and students and taking the lead on agreed specific areas of responsibility
  • Consider the school’s ‘Pure potential’ belief and how this can be interpreted within English, for students of all abilities
  • Support the development of the English staffing body and pedagogical approaches
  • Have high expectations and aspirations for all students
