Five Acre Wood is a successful, outward looking and expanding District Special School based over 3 sites in and around Maidstone, Kent. We currently have over 750 pupils on roll aged 2-19 years with profound, severe and complex needs.

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hard-working person to join our small, dedicated team to work in our Outdoor Learning Environment (OLE). Assist the Outdoor Learning Environment Lead with day to day maintenance while following the correct teaching methods delivered by the OLE Lead

We cover all aspects of Horticulture from vegetable growing, fruit garden, wildlife, herb garden, meadow and small orchard.  Landscaping and construction are also part of the services we offer to all our students. We also have a small farm on our site that is home to two goats, 4 pigs, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs and rabbits. At apple tree yard students help with the day to day running of a small farm.

Our achievements include Ofsted “Outstanding”, and the WAS “Wellbeing Award” which recognises how we look after employees and pupils.

The role is based at Five Acre Wood School, Boughton Lane, Maidstone with the OLE team. This is an ideal role for a professionally qualified horticulturalist or somebody who is willing to study towards becoming qualified.
