We are looking to appoint a full-time Caretaker with effect from April 2023. The successful candidate will be responsible for working alongside our long established friendly and professional Site Team, assisting the Site Manager in the cleaning, maintenance and caretaking activities to ensure the safety, security and sound condition of the buildings, hydrotherapy pool, vehicle facilities and grounds. Applications from candidates that are qualified to drive a mini bus would be an advantage.

The post holder will be expected to have experience in building maintenance and/or cleaning and skills in a number of disciplines. They will also need to be flexible and self-motivated, have good communication skills and a good understanding of the health and safety requirements of a large site. No two days are the same and this post offers the opportunity to work in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment to make a positive contribution to our unique and outstanding school, each and every day.

Previous experience of working in a school would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is a year round contract for 37 hours per week (full-time). Working patterns will range from either 6.00am to 2.00pm or 10.00am to 6.00pm, dependant on the academic calendar. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and able to switch shifts as required and there may also be a requirement to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis. Overtime hours will be paid at the appropriate rate.

Please note that Ifield School is federated with our neighbouring primary school, King's Farm and there will be an occasional requirement to work across both sites when the need arises.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Self Disclosure Form and in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022, will also be subject to an online search. Ifield School and all its personnel are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and against the ISA Barred List for Children including overseas criminal background checks where applicable. Appointments will be subject to satisfactory recruitment and vetting checks, including two references, one of which must be your current or most recent employer.

What we can offer the candidate:

  • Working within a fulfilling, rewarding and caring environment supported by a consistently high quality leadership team
  • Entitlement to Kent Rewards and KCC Employee Benefit Scheme
  • Enrolment in Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Focus on Mental Health and Wellbeing with access to key services including a free counselling support line
