We are a large inclusive primary school with approximately 750 pupils and require a Teaching Assistant to join our team primarily to support a child with intimate personal care needs.

We are seeking to permanently appoint an experienced and caring individual to provide high-quality support to a child with complex medical needs whilst also supporting all aspects of their education within a mainstream classroom. The role will involve working with a close team to ensure all the child's needs are met and they are able to enjoy accessing their education.

As we are an inclusive school the successful candidate will need a wide range of skills to support our children with their communication, SEMH, cognition and learning, sensory or physical needs.

The vacancy is for 30 hours per week (6 hours a day, Monday to Friday including a 30 minute daily lunchtime supervision session). The pay scale is Kent Range 3 at £19,293 per annum for a full-time position, which equates to approximately £13,167 per annum pro rata for this role. A SEN allowance of £1,342 per annum pro rata will also be paid whilst supporting this child.

The post holder is required to work for 38 weeks per year (term time only). In addition they will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSE qualifications or equivalent in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above are desirable. Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence so do not declare any qualifications unless you can produce the original certificate.

A formal 30 minute interview will take place with a panel comprising of members of the Leadership Team. Candidates will also undertake a 25 minute English and Maths test.

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery continues to be a ‘Good’ school with an ‘Outstanding’ judgement in Personal Development, as recognised in our latest Ofsted inspection (November 2023). The inspection found that, ‘pupils behave and concentrate very well in this warm and inclusive school’ and that, ‘the school carefully considers staff workload and well-being.’

We are a large four form entry school to the west of Margate with approximately 775 pupils. We aim to provide a caring, exciting and inclusive learning environment where every child and family really matters with a focus on raising standards alongside the development of the whole child. The school’s values are Perseverance, Aspiration, Respect and Teamwork and all children are familiar with these.

We are a school with a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for Physically Disabled pupils, a KS1 and KS2 satellite class from Foreland Fields School and a further SRP for pupils with Autism.

We are a part of an established Cooperative Trust (Thanet Endeavour Learning Trust), working with Bromstone Primary School, Parkside Community Primary School and St Mildred’s Primary Infant School. We work closely within our Trust to improve all aspects of our practice, including CPD and support for ECTs.

Our large site comprises of a KS2 and a KS1 building, three large playgrounds and a school field and we continue to invest heavily in our outdoor learning environment which includes an inclusive play area and sports courts.
