We are looking for a fantastic 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work with a specific child to help them reach their full potential in all areas of school life. This support may be within class, in small groups or providing 1:1 interventions.

Whilst experience of working in a primary school environment would be an advantage, it is more desirable that you are able to be highly flexible, have initiative, be skilled in de-escalation of situations and have a desire to forge positive relationships with children, staff and parents. You will need to have an understanding that some challenging behaviours require patience, distraction and most of all an attachment with the child, as well as believing that every child has their own interests and talents. A good standard of education is expected.

The hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm and part of the role is to provide lunchtime supervision. Therefore, an ability to play, have fun, and actively supervise is essential.

Please contact the school office or kcollin@whitstable-junior.kent.sch.uk to arrange a visit or for more information.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable application is made before the closing date.

This is a post that is linked to a child in lower school in receipt of High Needs Funding and is therefore temporary. We anticipate that the successful candidate would be supporting this child until the end of Year 6.

Whitstable Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection and first aid training. An enhanced Disclosure Record check will also be carried out as well as 'Right to Work" in the UK.
