This is an exciting opportunity to join the Central Team working as a Governance Officer. You will support effective local governance across the Trust and the post holder will have a vital role helping our committed group of Members, Trustees and Governors fulfil their responsibilities as leaders in our Trust and schools.

The role presents a unique opportunity to work flexible hours, take advantage of hybrid working, with opportunities for additional hours, and time off in school holidays as standard. The role involves advising and clerking for a MAT Trust Board, Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, and the school’s Local Governing Boards.

The role will be mostly home-based and many duties can be undertaken flexibly to meet deadlines, with the meetings are held either in the evening (5pm) or in the morning (9.15am). Travel to the Trust Office and school sites for the meetings will be required.

There are 6 Trust Board Meetings, 4 Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meetings, 12 LGB meetings and 1 AGM per Academic year.  The meetings last on average 2 ½ - 3 hours. Time is allowed for agenda preparation, minute preparation and general duties including keeping the “Get Information about Schools” website updated and checked.

We would ideally like to appoint a suitably qualified Governance Professional but we would consider sponsoring training subject to the acceptance of our training agreement which requires repayment of training costs if the post is left within 18 months of finishing the training.  For an informal conversation about the role please contact Dean Jones, CEO on 07414779802.

Salary, hours and pay scale:

The salary for this role is £12.50 per hour and 10 hours per meeting is the expected time.
