An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated SENCO to join our Senior Leadership Team, with a passion for working with vulnerable children to ensure they receive the education they deserve.

You will bring an innovative and creative approach to supporting the strategic direction and development of SEN provision across our school, whilst effectively managing and developing the progress and achievement of our pupils.

Our current SENCO works across the two schools in our federation, High Halden and Woodchurch. Spending 2 days at High Halden and 3 days at Woodchurch.

The successful candidate will have

  • An awareness of how young children learn best and can skilfully use the children's interests to plan their next steps
  • The National Award for SEN Co-ordination or be willing to work towards it
  • Experience of working with children with Special Needs
  • Thorough knowledge of the new SEND Code of Practice
  • The ability to lead staff in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children
  • Experience of working with pupils with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, Pupil Premium, EAL, GRT.
  • The ability to support and line manage our team of support staff
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work within a team
  • Good management and organisational skills
  • The necessary communication skills enabling liaison with a variety of external agencies
  • Experience or willingness to undertake a DSL role alongside other members of our SLT.

Ideally, we would like the successful candidate to start in September 2023, but would strongly welcome a thorough handover during term 6 (July 2023).
