Are you a positive and enthusiastic person looking for a new opportunity in our forward-thinking, inclusive and nurturing school? Here at Chartham Primary, we are excited to be recruiting for a Teaching Assistant starting in March/April 2023.

This is a fabulous opportunity for a dedicated and inspiring person to join the school team at Chartham which is part of Inspira Academy Trust. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate teaching assistant to join the school’s successful and supportive team.  Whilst experience is desirable, particularly working with children special needs, it is not essential.

Experience supporting children with additional needs (for example ASC) would be advantageous. Your numeracy and literacy will be of a high enough standard to support and extend children throughout the primary age range. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude, a good sense of humour, and be friendly and approachable. Good time management and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

 Responsibilities will include:

  • The 1:1 support of a pupil across all areas of the curriculum
  • Regular feedback and liaison with the class teacher and parents
  • Keeping records of progress
  • Working closely with other members of staff to give and receive support
  • Preparing resources and some administrative work
  • Lunch and playground duty

We can offer you training, a friendly and supportive environment and an experienced mentor to welcome and guide you in the role.

The role of 1:1 Teaching Assistant is temporary based on the funding of the school and the 1:1 needs. The right candidate will need to be determined to help our children achieve their best, and be prepared to put their needs first. Children will be at the heart of your work and should be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.

The postholder is required to work for 38 weeks per year. In addition, the postholder will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade, Bank Holidays and the KCC concessionary day

Closing date is 21/03/23. Application process may be closed earlier than specified, based on applications received.

Please note, we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check along with other pre-employment checks which must be undertaken before the role is confirmed by the school.

Our Trust is committed to safeguarding, safer recruitment and promoting the welfare of pupils.
