Assistant Headteacher - The Malling School, Kent (Sept 2023)

The Malling School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader to join our leadership team as an Assistant Headteacher from September 2023. We are a growing and oversubscribed school, known for our strong behavioural systems, Developmental Learning Walks, and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for both students and staff.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading Teaching & Learning and line management of a subject, as well as a clear understanding of current education policies and initiatives.

They will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and implementation of the school's Teaching & Learning strategy
  • Line managing and supporting subject leaders to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across the school
  • Collaborating with the Headteacher and other members of the leadership team to drive school improvement
  • Contributing to the school's overall strategic direction and decision-making
  • Leading and managing specific school projects as required

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A relevant teaching qualification and significant teaching experience
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience in leading Teaching & Learning and line management of a subject
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to inclusion and raising the achievement of all students

Information about the school

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).
