We are looking to appoint an experienced, dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work within the our school. The successful candidate would be expected to support a drive towards a demonstrable  impact on pupil progress within a classroom setting as well as working well as part of a team.  The position also includes some playtime/lunchtime supervision.  We are a happy, successful school with lovely children who enjoy their learning. The responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting individuals and groups in whole class activities, helping every individual to achieve linked to the learning intention. 
  • Leading intervention groups in order to address misconceptions or plug gaps in learning 
  • Providing effective feedback to children and teachers including appropriate marking and record keeping to support the learning process 
  • Working in liaison with teachers to support the emotional, social and behavioural needs of the children 
  • Preparation of learning resources in liaison with teachers 
  • Assisting in the creation of effective displays 
  • Participating in appropriate training in order to further your own professional development 

The role will be in class in the morning supporting individuals within the classroom and in the afternoon, working to lead intervention groups within your phase. There will be the opportunity to run some before/after school interventions for additional hours (negotiable) or to run a club if you have a talent that you are happy to share with our pupils. 

Candidates should have a high standard of spoken and written English and mathematics. They should be good and effective communicators with children and adults, friendly and approachable, flexible and adaptable, able to work on their own initiative and with good time management skills.  

Preferably candidates will have some experience and relevant qualifications/training relating to teaching or equivalent previous experience within an educational setting.   

This would be a fixed term contract until the end of this academic year and would also suit someone who is considering entering teaching as a career in the future.

Information about the school

Reculver Primary School is part of Aquila, the Diocese of Canterbury Multi Academy Trust. We are also part of the Coastal Alliance Co-Operative Trust as a partner school. We are a high achieving school with high expectations, and as a result Ofsted judged us as Outstanding in all areas when they visited in July 2018. We are a friendly school by the sea with 17 classes, approximately 510 pupils on roll and we promote a caring, inclusive ethos. The school has a specialist resourced provision for VI and Cognition and Learning and we are committed to quality, inclusive education for all our pupils. The school has benefited from modernisation projects over recent years including a new administration block, new Early Years classrooms, an Year 5/6 block and enhancements to playground facilities which give our children opportunities to develop their social/interaction skills. We are lucky to have a wonderful outside area that we use to the full whenever possible. We are a happy team, who work together closely and the school has a real family feel to it.
