Assistant Headteacher
Grade: L10 – L14
Responsible to: Headteacher

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to join our senior leadership team as Assistant Headteacher from September 2025. Our school is committed to providing high-quality education and fostering a positive learning environment for all our students.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in raising standards, improving pupil outcomes, and increasing aspirations across the school.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to school improvement initiatives
  • Supporting and line managing staff
  • Implementing effective strategies to enhance teaching and learning
  • Collaborating with the senior leadership team on various projects
  • Supporting with parent meetings as applicable

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status and significant teaching experience
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to inclusive education and raising achievement for all students

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Expertise in curriculum design and assessment practices
  • Experience in data analysis and its application to improve student outcomes
  • Knowledge of current developments in curriculum and assessment strategies

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1,000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford
