Advert

Aquila, The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust, is a highly successful and well established Multi Academy Trust currently supporting 16 schools in Kent. Through inclusive and innovative practice we nurture the Aquila family to provide exceptional learning experiences, enriching the lives of all in our unique communities. Our Local Governing Bodies are core to delivering this mission and our clerks are therefore essential to realising these ideals.

The Trust is seeking a highly effective, efficient and self-motivated Governance Professional to provide procedural and administrative support to some of our Local Governing Bodies. The exact schools will be allocated based on the candidate’s location but being close to Sandwich, Dover and Folkestone would be advantageous.

The Governance Professional will be line managed by the Head of Governance and Compliance and be accountable to the Local Governing Bodies of the schools they support.

Previous experience of education, academies and clerking responsibilities is desirable but not essential as initial training will be provided along with ongoing development opportunities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Flexibility, with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Aptitude for initiative and self-management
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Effective communication and ICT skills
  • A proven track record of accuracy and attention to detail

Some meetings will take place remotely but the majority will be face to face with each Local Governing Body and the successful candidate will be required to attend all planned meetings. Meetings can take place in the day or early evenings and so flexible availability is essential as is the ability to travel.

The role will require the successful candidate to be able to grow as the trust continues to expand with new schools wanting to join us.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The post is subject to recruitment checks including Enhanced DBS and online search.
