Advert

The Abbey School invites applications for the post of Director of Wider Personal Development to lead on the school’s wider personal development delivery and will have responsibility for PSHE, SMSC and Student Voice. We are looking to appoint a well-organised creative individual who is committed to ensuring that pupils receive a programme that gives them the knowledge they need to make decisions, strengthens them personally and contributes to building their character.

An ability to teach English, Maths or Geography would be desirable but not essential. Due to the nature of the role, it will have a reduced teaching timetable.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to lead and build a programme which is forward-thinking and focused on doing the very best for each and every student.

Information about the school

The Abbey School is a mixed secondary school with a thriving population of over 1200 students. We believe that school should be a place where young people can discover and develop their own talents. We have high expectations of all our students which are supported by consistently applied systems, structures, rituals and routines across our learning environment. We are a supportive school community including a positive staff team with high staff morale.

The Abbey school recently celebrated some robust results, with 45% of students achieving Maths and English at 4+ (an improvement of 34% from 2017), and record A level results with 52% of grades at A-C. The Abbey school is rated GOOD for quality of education by Ofsted.

The school is situated in the historic market town of Faversham. We aim to provide the highest quality value-added education and excellent pastoral care for all students.

The Abbey proudly joined The Howard Academy Trust on 01st April 2023, a highly successful Trust in which all schools have improved their Ofsted rating since joining or maintained their good rating.
