Advert

The Galaxy Trust and The Pathway Academy Trust will be merging in January 2023 to form The Golden Thread Alliance.  The new Trust will grow to nine schools and we are seeking to appoint a Clerk to support the Local Governing Bodies across all of the schools.

Gravesham Hub:  Culverstone Green Primary School, Meopham Community Academy, Riverview Infant School, Riverview Junior School and Wrotham Road Primary School.

Dartford Hub:  Fleetdown Primary Academy, Oakfield Primary Academy, Temple Hill Primary Academy and West Hill Primary Academy.

The Clerk to The Golden Thread Alliance will be accountable to the Local Governing Bodies and work effectively with the Trust Governance Professionals, Chairs of the Local Governing Bodies and Headteachers across the nine schools.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • To provide effective administrative advice and support to the nine Local Governing Bodies
  • Attend in person and to take minutes of all Local Governing Body meetings
  • To provide procedural advice and compliance support
  • Behave in a professional manner, as set down in the Code of Conduct, including acting in strict confidence
  • Act as the key link between the Chair of Governors and the Trust Governance Professionals.

The governing body meetings at the Gravesham schools are currently held during the day time and the Dartford schools meet during the evening.  This highly attractive opportunity offers significant flexibility regarding working patterns and the post holder must be flexible in their approach to attending meetings both during the day and the evening.

The hours per week for this role are not fixed due to the nature of the post. The salary assumes a weekly quota of 10 hours per week but this will be worked flexibly across the year with a greater commitment some weeks than others. The nine meetings take place over the course of two weeks and are held four times per year (currently September, January, April and June/July).

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with a proven record of building strong relationships and credibility at senior level. They will have GCSE English and Maths grades A-C or equivalent, excellent IT and written skills and experience of working within a senior administration role. Ideally the candidate will have a mixed skillset and be looking to work within an educational organisation that will provide significant opportunities to give back to society and improve the life chances for local children.

The Golden Thread Alliance is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020 and therefore is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure. In line with KCSIE guidance, all candidates who are shortlisted will be subject to an online search. This search is not part of the shortlisting process itself and all shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to address any issues of concern resulting from the search.

Early applications are encouraged and we reserve the right to close the vacancy if a suitable candidate is found. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
