Teacher of Business and Travel and Tourism

Required April 2023

Whether you are at the start of your career or an expert teacher we will focus on what you will bring to the academy and most importantly what impact you will have on our students.

The school is looking to appoint a dynamic Teacher of Business and Travel and Tourism to join the Voyager Community’s Business Team.  Our long-established, ever expanding Business Studies department has a reputation for excellent attainment and adding value to performance levels across all abilities.

The department delivers a number of different qualifications at Level 2 and 3 including Business A Level and BTEC, Public Services, Financial Studies and Travel and Tourism, as well as teaching enterprise from year 7 to 9.  The successful applicant would be expected to be able to contribute to more than one of our subject areas and take responsibility for their own classes.

With our ethos of ‘Learning, Respect and Belonging’, we have high aspirations for everyone and expect everyone to contribute positively to the school by working hard and participating in school activities.  We seek to develop our staff through a professional growth model and treat everyone as an individual; we value personal strengths and qualities.  Homewood School is part of Tenterden Schools’ Trust working in collaboration with local primary schools serving the beautiful Wealden town of Tenterden and the surrounding villages.  All teaching staff are provided with an IT device and there is also a nursery based on the school site which offers discounts to Homewood Staff.

It’s a competitive market out there and we want to know what it is that makes you the one we can invest in.  Detail your successes in your covering letter and get us excited about you.

Please apply via Kent-teach.com.  For any queries, please contact Megan Wanstall, Human Resources 01580 764222 Ext 2351 or email vacancies@homewood.kent.sch.uk.

Early applications are encouraged as we review applications as we receive them.

Homewood has excellent facilities for all its students and our specialisms in Performing Arts, Applied Learning and the Rural Dimension underpin our approaches to learning which are designed to raise achievement across the whole student body. We aim to maintain and develop the cultural aspirations of the school community in line with our priorities of “belonging” and “respect” and offer a broad range of curriculum opportunities in all subject areas. This also extends into the local community through partnerships across primary, secondary and higher education sectors as well as non-educational community partners.

Homewood provides a secure and caring learning environment in which all students can flourish and succeed. It is a school renowned for its support for students’ wellbeing. Heads of Community provide academic and pastoral leadership for the students in their Community, supported by dedicated form tutors, a Family Liaison Officer and Assistant Head of Community. A range of other staff including counsellors and a qualified nurse help and support the students through their time at Homewood. Consideration and respect for each other is central to our work and we are justly proud of our students’ achievements.
