Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 2

Speldhurst Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who has the ability to inspire, motivate and support our wonderful pupils.

Speldhurst is an Outstanding school and this is a great opportunity to join our happy and motivated team. The school has a strong Christian ethos and is at the heart of the Speldhurst community.

We are looking for classroom assistant who can hit the ground running, either mornings only or fulltime. Although experience is an advantage, consideration will be given to candidates with relevant skills. The post will initially be in Year 3 supporting a child one-to-one. The post is term-time only, either 22.5 hours per week (8.30am to 1pm), or 32.5 hours per week (8.30 to 3.30 daily with 30 minutes for lunch).  Understanding of SEN and ability to relate to children.  

The ideal candidate will be a well organised practitioner who is able to use their own initiative and also be able to work as part of a team. You will be flexible in your approach, completely reliable and always enthusiastic and positive.

Having a working knowledge of the National Curriculum at KS2 would be an advantage. Empathy and an ability to establish good working relationships with staff, parents and pupils are essential.

Necessary Experience:

  • Good standard of education with strong Literacy and Numeracy skills 
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Experience:  

  • Previous experience as an TA or Teacher
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about SEN support
  • First Aid Qualification

Any of the following would be welcomed:

Teaching Assistant Level

Degree in Early Childhood Studies/Education

Teaching Qualification

Experience as a KS1/KS2 Teaching Assistant

Visits to the school are encouraged

Speldhurst Church of England Aided Primary School is in a village 3 miles from Tunbridge Wells in Kent and is at the heart of a thriving village community. We are a small, caring school with just 213 pupils so it is possible to know every child.
