Job Description

We are looking to recruit a school cook who is innovative, dynamic and highly motivated, who has an excellent understanding and experience of the kitchen on a day-to-day basis.

The school cook will work under the direction of the Senior Administrator, Ripple site Cook and collaborate with other members of the senior leadership team to ensure that students receive a varied and nutritious diet. As the school cook/caterer you will be responsible for managing the operation of the kitchen including preparation and cooking of food, supplies, presentation/service and record management and compliance with quality and safety standards, and the cleaning and cleanliness of the kitchen and the dining areas. We are looking for a hands on team player, who is not afraid to assist else where in the school when needed, especially in the early establishment period of the site.

This post is based at our site in Broadstairs and is term time. Hours of work 37.5 hours a week, 7.00am to 3.00pm / 7.30am to 3.30pm, plus 70 inset hours which presently includes 2 hours on a Tuesday early evening twilight session.  You will be working under the direction of the Senior Administrator and the SLT.

Information about the school

Ripplevale School is an independent day special school for pupils aged from 6 to 18 years old who have an EHCP (Education Health Care Plan) with a diagnosis of ASD, often with associated conditions.

Ripplevale School is situated over two sites. Ripplevale Lower School is situated in Broadstairs, teaching a Primary provision and Ripplevale Upper School is based in the village of Ripple near Deal, for our Secondary and Post 16 provision.

We have a committed and dedicated team which includes teachers, teaching assistants, higher level teaching assistants, a range of therapists, administrative staff and support staff. All play a significant role in the education and development of each pupil and work to create a warm, informal, friendly atmosphere in which the pupils feel secure, safe and confident.
