Riverhead Infants’ School is a popular, welcoming and inclusive three form entry school, set in beautiful grounds with excellent indoor and outdoor learning facilities. We are very proud of our award winning, state of the art building which provides a stimulating and enabling learning environment for all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities.

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated SENCO to join our successful, hardworking SEN team on a part-time basis, ideally for three days a week.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (primary or secondary)
  • Hold the National Award for SENCO qualification or be prepared to complete it
  • Be a strong leader, who is committed to providing the highest standards of provision for SEND students.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the new SEND Code of Practice.
  • Be an excellent practitioner with high expectations and a commitment to raising standards.
  • Have the ability to support and overview the work of teaching assistants working with SEN children.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills with all members of the school community.

Applicants should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be hard working, flexible and professional.  They should have high expectations of students, colleagues and self, displaying energy and enthusiasm and be able to contribute to the school’s overall success.  A willingness to contribute to other areas of school life would be welcome.

You will have the chance to work collaboratively with our linked junior school and other schools.  As an active member of the Sevenoaks Partnership of Primary Schools, you will have the opportunity to further develop your leadership skills and learn from others
