CLASSROOM COVER ASSISTANT/LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

Kent Range 4 (£19,389 - £20,493) pro rota

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, starting September 2022

Initially, fixed term 1 year contract

We are looking for individuals to join our close-knit Classroom Cover and/or Learning Support teams. This is an ideal position for a graduate considering teaching as a future career or an individual with knowledge of the workings of a school and some or all of the needs of teachers, support staff, pupils and pupils with additional needs. The successful candidates will work as part of the School’s Cover and or AEN Team, with a particular focus on providing cover for teaching staff, ensuring that prepared lessons are carried out whilst maintaining appropriate behaviours to support learning or supporting individual pupils to enable them to access the curriculum. Additional responsibilities will include providing support to the Administration Team, and undertaking invigilation. The willingness to be flexible is essential. Weeks worked include time during School holidays, to provide front-of-house cover.

Information about the school

Sir Roger Manwood’s School is a mixed grammar school for students aged 11-18. The school was granted Academy status on 1 March 2011. We have 1017 students in total. In September 2014, the school began an expansion from being a 4 form entry to a 5 form entry. The school is set in particularly attractive grounds and has excellent facilities.

Academic results are consistently of a very high standard. As a result we appear prominently in the national league tables. The vast majority of our Sixth Formers go on to the most competitive universities including Oxford, Cambridge, UCL, Kings and Warwick. The extra-curricular life of the school is a very striking feature of life at Manwood’s.

There is an exceptionally wide range of sporting and cultural activities which all attract high levels of participation. There are also imaginative international ties, including those with schools in Germany, China, the Gambia and India.

The school has a warm, friendly atmosphere. The care, guidance and support offered is outstanding and is much appreciated by students and parents alike. The nature of the school and creating a family ethos which helps to make the school as successful as it is.
