We are looking to recruit an Administrative Assistant to to join our friendly team. This is a varied and interesting role which comprises supporting our main office team with front of house duties (dealing with parents and other visitors/callers to the school), office administrative tasks and filing.

This position is KR3 (£19,293) for 25 hours per week (8.15am - 1.15pm) for 39 weeks of the year (term-time only plus 1 week). Actual salary for this position is £10,973 pa gross.

The successful applicant will be hard working, efficient and a pro-active team player. You will be confident answering the phone and dealing with a range of enquiries, both internally and externally. You will naturally be a warm and friendly person with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, pupils and parents/carers. Experience of working in an office environment and using Arbor would be advantageous.

You will possess strong administrative skills, along with a willingness to undertake any necessary training. This is a varied and busy role incorporating a range of tasks.

In 2024, Ofsted graded St John's as a good school in all areas.

The school, based in the heart of Canterbury, is a larger than average primary school, with two classes in each of Years 1 to 6. The school has provision for Early Years Foundation Stage children, with a nursery and two reception classes. In addition to our teaching team, we have a supportive pastoral team including a Head of Inclusion and Welfare, Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour and Personal Development, SENDCo, EAL Specialist and a FLO. The school is a Church of England voluntary controlled school.
