We are looking for a new SENCO for January 2023 to join our wonderful school. The position is for 2/3 days a week which are negotiable. We are seeking an outstanding teacher who has an excellent working knowledge of SEN with the ability to work well with children, parents and staff.

The role will involve building on the work completed by our current SENCO and help to develop the strategic direction of the school in relation to inclusion and additonal or special needs. You will have an office to work from and administration support from a Teaching Assistant. The post is non-class based but may have a small teaching commitment covering PPA time. You will also be required to offer teaching support and strategies where appropriate.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working as a SENCO and have completed the National Award for SEN Coordination or be working towards it.
  • Be able to lead, motivate and inspire others - staff and pupils.
  • Have an interest in wellbeing across the school community
  • Have excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • Be resilient, determined, approachable and creative.
  • Have high expectations, commitment and enthusiasm for the teaching and development of all students, particularly those who are vulnerable and/or with SEN.
  • Demonstrate a passion for education and hold the belief in all children being enabled to reach their full potential.
  • Have the ability to analyse data effectively and use it to enhance provision.
  • An understanding of the new funding arrangements and the application process would be beneficial.
  • Be a team player who will become fully involved in life at Lunsford Primary.

We are an oversubscribed one form entry primary school in Larkfield, Aylesford catering for pupils from Reception to Year 6. The school has recently been fully refurbished and has seven classrooms, a brand new computer suite, a library at the centre of the school, a Design and Technology/ music room and a spacious hall. We are fortunate to have an extensive playing field which is used for PE and games as well as a woodland crafts area for Forest School and outdoor learning.

The school has a reputation for high attainment and we are justly proud of this. We have a commitment to high academic standards whilst maintaining a rounded view of education where the needs of all learners are catered for.

We recognise that our staff (along side our children here) are our most important resource and are to be valued, supported and encouraged to develop personally and professionally within a learning and caring community.
