Chilton Primary School is seeking to appoint a new SENCo to join our Senior Leadership Team.

  • Are you a passionate advocate of highly effective and inclusive special needs provision?
  • Do you inspire confidence in staff, parents and children?

Our current SENCo has been working across both Chilton and Ramsgate Arts Primary and the time has now come for both schools to have their own dedicated SENCo. This new appointment would therefore join the Viking Academy Trust team at Chilton alongside the SENCos at RAPS and Upton Junior School. Support from and collaboration with our two other SENCos and Chilton's Senior Leaders means that this post is for someone wanting to join a team which champions children with additonal need.

We are looking for a hands-on SENCo - someone who will work closely with children, staff and parents alike. Our teachers and teaching assistants want to do the best possible job that they can for our children and so we are looking for someone who can support and advise them with knowledge, experience and expertise. This will be a part-time position but we can be flexible for the right candidate. Ideally, the post would be three days school based with half a day working from home on the administration tasks required by the role.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have qualified teacher status and primary school teaching experience
  • Have previous experience working within SEN
  • Take the leading role for inclusion throughout the school
  • Have an understanding of current SEN/AEN procedures
  • Have joint responsibility alongside the Head of School and Deputy Head for well-being, safeguarding and child protection
  • Lead on LAC and medical needs alongside SEN
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with parents, external agencies and staff
  • Have established leadership skills, good time management and organisational skills

You can expect:

  • A supportive and highly skilled staff team who are willing to go that extra mile for our children
  • CPD opportunities and collaboration with our fantastic SENCos at both Upton Junior and Ramsgate Arts Primary
  • Support from our lead Governor who has extensive SEN experience
  • A strong Senior Leadership Team with experience and knoweldge of SEN
  • 420 fantastic children!

Visits to the school to find out more about the role are warmly welcomed. Please contact Kate Law, Head of School to arrange a visit - headofschool@chiltonprimary.co.uk)

The Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service at an enhanced level.

Information about the trust

The Viking Academy Trust is a primary only, Multi-Academy Trust consisting of three inspirational schools: Upton Junior School, Chilton Primary School and Ramsgate Arts Primary School.

Our One Childhood One Chance philosophy resonates throughout everything we do at the Viking Academy Trust.

At Viking, we make sure that our ultimate focus and core purpose remains excellent teaching and learning for every child. Our teaching is progressive and adaptive and we strive for the best outcomes for all. We invest time and training into our staff so that they can invest their skills and expertise into our children.

For children to thrive, they need to feel that they belong. Our people and our environments are warm and welcoming. Every member of our staff invests in building strong relationships with children and getting to know children well means we can focus on equity of opportunity.

This means that we can prioritise social and emotional learning along with the academic as we know that children need to learn how to be resilient, to have healthy and safe relationships and to face the world with problem solving skills.

We nurture children to become responsible citizens, ready to face the modern world and to make the most of their every potential both academically and socially. At Viking schools, we have high standards and expectations and we know how to support children to reach them.
