We have an exciting opportunity for a flexible and passionate individual to join our fantastic school as our Learning Mentor from September 2022.

The successful candidate will join our Pupil Support Team and will focus on supporting children who are find learning tricky or experiencing difficulties at school to succeed. The successful candidate will develop strong positive and productive relationships with the children to identify the root causes of any issues and work towards achievable goals to help improve engagement, build self-esteem and increase attainment.

Using a range of resources and strategies, including our Dog Mentor Bruno, you will support children with their wellbeing, learning and behaviours to ensure their time in school is positive and successful. You will also work with parents through building positive relationships and providing workshops and coffee mornings developing our partnerships with parents.

The hours will be 8am - 3.30pm, Monday-Friday. Pay will be at Kent Range 6 with a starting salary of £20,997 FTE; pro-rata to £17,084.02 for 35 hours per week, term time only plus inset days.

 We are looking for someone who:

  • has recent experience working and supporting children
  • has high expectations and is passionate about encouraging the best from every pupil, enabling every child to fulfil their potential
  • is able to contribute to, and work as part of a team
  • has excellent communication skills and a flexible attitude
  • has effective time management and an ability to work on own initiative
  • has good IT skills
  • Relevant mentoring/counselling qualifications or ELSA training are also desirable.

Meopham Community Academy is a two form entry primary school set in a beautiful village location and the school prides itself on providing a happy, safe and caring environment for all its pupils.
