Offham Primary School are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic teaching assistant to support our wonderful class teachers during lessons, with wider school responsibilities and fundraising events. Being a teaching assistant at Offham is about becoming part of our small school family.

At Offham we really value the support and guidance our teaching assistants offer our children and use them fully in all aspects of teaching and learning to maximise children's opportunities. The role would ideally suit someone who is passionate about getting the very best out of children and will work confidently, under teachers guidance, to prepare and deliver parts of lessons to small groups of pupils. The role typically requires working within the classroom in the mornings and leading small group intervention and support sessions during the afternoons.

At Offham we will invest fully in your training and professional development. We encourage all of our TA's to develop a specialist area for support in the afternoons such as speech and language support or nurture expertise. The school is happy to fund training courses and opportunities to help our team develop to their full capacity. We have a positive track record of helping Teaching Assistants progress to becoming teachers and this role would suit someone looking to develop in this way in the future. At Offham we run a peer to peer support and development programme and will therefore encourage you to work with a partner to become a reflective practitioner.

A good standard of general education such as GCSEs / A levels or an NVQ together with good numeracy and literature skills is desirable. Some previous experience of working with children is necessary along with the ability to relate well to children and adults, understanding their needs and being able to respond accordingly.

The postholder will be someone who will uphold the school's policy regarding the safeguarding of pupils and promoting the welfare of children. The postholder will require an enhanced CRB disclosure and proof of eligibility to work in the UK even if you are a UK citizen.
