We are looking to appoint an Attendance Officer to work alongside our experienced and friendly administration team in a large primary school of approximately 800 pupils. The successful candidate will have proven administration skills and a warm and approachable nature.

The main responsibilities of the role will be to undertake all administrative tasks associated with the recording, management and monitoring of attendance and to work with families to improve the attendance and punctuality of pupils.

The hours are negotiable between 32.5 and 37 per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year (term time only plus 5 INSET days). Two extra working weeks during the school holidays are also negotiable. We can be flexible with a fixed start time between 8.00am and 8.30am and can also offer either a thirty minute or sixty minute lunch break. The finish time will depend on the duty start time and length of lunch break - these options will be discussed at interview.

The pay is set at Kent Range 5 at £20,595 for a full-time position. The actual salary equates to between £15,628 (32.5 hours) and £17,792 (37 hours) per annum pro rata however this is dependent on the amount of hours and working weeks agreed. In addition the postholder will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade including Bank Holidays.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSE qualifications or equivalent in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above.  Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence so please do not declare any qualifications unless you can produce the original certificate.

A formal thirty minute interview will take place with a panel comprising of a member of the SLT and the Business Manager. Candidates will also undertake a thirty minute in-tray exercise.

Information about the school

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery continues to be a ‘Good’ school as recognised in our latest Ofsted inspection (March 2018). The inspection found that staff ‘have an unwavering commitment and determination to provide the best possible experiences for all pupils in a happy, calm and aspirational environment’.

We are a large four form entry school to the west of Margate with approximately 775 pupils. We aim to provide a caring, exciting and inclusive learning environment where every child and family really matters with a focus on raising standards alongside the development of the whole child. The school’s values are Perseverance, Aspiration, Respect and Teamwork and all children are familiar with these. The most recent Ofsted visit noted that the values ‘pervade every aspect of the school’s work’, and we are proud that is the case.

We are a school with a Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for Physically Disabled pupils, a satellite class from Foreland Fields School and a further SRP for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Conditions due to be built by the end of 2022.

We are a part of an established Cooperative Trust (Thanet Endeavour Learning Trust), working with Bromstone Primary School and St Mildred’s Primary Infant School. We work closely within our Trust to improve all aspects of our practice, including CPD and support for ECTs. We are also proud to be part of a Federation between our school and Parkside Community Primary School in Canterbury.

Our large site comprises of a KS2 and a KS1 building, three large playgrounds and a school field and we continue to invest heavily in our outdoor learning environment which includes an inclusive play area and sports courts.
