We are looking for a teaching assistant to join our team, providing support to groups and individual pupils in the classroom.

We are looking for a teaching assistant who:

  • Has sound knowledge of the development of young children
  • Is adaptable and willing to learn/develop
  • Has a good level of knowledge about the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and provision
  • Is able to interact and play with children. 
  • Works well in a team but can also use their initative 
  • Strong levels of spoken and written English and Mathematics
  • Follow and adapt lesson plans.
  • Is able to prepare resources and teaching materials
  • Able to support a child with intimate care. 
  • Can liaise with the class teacher and other staff
  • Has consistently high expectations of pupil behaviour and achievement.
  • Has experience of or willing to learn Makaton
  • Is creative, caring and can help our children to shine.
  • Buys in to our vision and lives it out! 

We can offer a busy and vibrant school, which is constantly moving forward, with great children and a very supportive team working in partnership with our local community.

This is a part time temporary position as it is linked to additonal funding for a child in our school. The hours of work will be 9am-12:30pm (five days a week), this equates 17.5 hours.  These hours could increase should additonal funding be secured. 

Candidates will be judged on both their capability for the post and their suitability for working with children. Good English and Maths skills are essential and candidates must have GCSE maths and English at grade C or above.

Woodchurch Church of England Primary School has 163 children on roll and is situated in the heart of the Kent countryside in the village of Woodchurch, 6 miles from Ashford and 4 miles from Tenterden. We are a school at the heart of the community, that puts children at the heart of everything we do. Our site consists of a mixture of Victorian and modern buildings.
