Riverview Junior School has an exciting opportunity for a skilled, highly motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant.  The post is a temporary contract for 31.25 hours a week (term time only) 8.30am to 3.45pm commencing start of Term 1, 1st September 2022 with an expected end date of 31st August 2023, although there is a possibility that this could be extended.

The salary is Kent Range 3 £18,425 FTE, pro-rated to £13,041.91 for 31.25 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (term time only). 

You must be committed to helping to provide an inclusive education and be passionate about improving the outcomes for all pupils. The successful candidate will need to be passionate about working with children with Special Educational Needs, and who can help us have a positive impact on all of our pupils.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Passionate, sharing a commitment to support our vulnerable children and young people.
  • Have a calm, patient and encouraging manner, with an ability to make learning fun.
  • An ability to be self-motivated and manage time effectively in order to maximise children’s learning time.
  • Flexible and willing to support children in a variety of situations.
  • Have good English/Maths skills and should preferably hold an NVQ 3 or equivalent teaching assistant qualification.
  • Experienced with positive handling.
  • Be able to differentiate when supporting learning.

Information about the school

Riverview Junior School is a very popular four form entry Key Stage 2 school on a large site we share with the Infant School.

Our extensive site offers lots of opportunities for outdoor learning, including an outdoor library, two football pitches, MUGA, outdoor intervention area, animal farm and forest school, and we offer large well-resourced classrooms.

We are delighted to announce that our recent Ofsted inspection, carried out in February 2022, graded the school’s overall effectiveness as ‘Good’ with ‘Behaviour Attitudes’, ‘Personal Development and Leadership Management’ all being graded as Outstanding;.

We are now part of The Golden Thread Alliance and we work closely with the other schools in the trust.
