Oakfield Primary Academy is looking to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to work in the ARC  - the school’s ASD SRP (Specialist Resource Provision) and join their staff on a fixed term contract until 31 August 2023.

The position is full time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only.  Kent Range 3, £18,425 full time equivalent, actual pro rata salary £13,354 based on 32 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

At Oakfield Primary Academy, we are an accredited IQM Flagship school, which recognises and celebrates our highly inclusive ethos. Oakfield are dedicated to providing a high-quality education for all pupils and we support the needs of all individuals in our care. If you would like to work in a friendly and dynamic team, have experience of working with children with ASD and have the drive and dedication to build on your skills, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for someone who has good SEN experience, especially working with pupils with ASD, someone who is ‘creative’ in their thinking, adaptable and proactive in their approach. You will be working both on a 1:1 level and also as a lead for small groups of pupils who require guidance and strategies to understand academic and behavioural expectations to enable them to participate mainstream teaching wherever possible.

We have recently been judged with a solid good in Ofsted; this is the type of school you could be joining:

  • A strong sense of community fills this inclusive school
  • Staff have high expectations of the pupils and expect them to work hard
  • Adults are strong role models
  • Staff are proud to work here and pupils love to learn here
  • Leaders and staff have worked incredibly hard to improve the school since its last inspection
  • ‘There is a real team feeling – we are Team Purple.’
  • Teachers know their pupils well
  • Pupils feel that they will leave school remembering motivational teachers and visitors, that diversity is celebrated, and that they have been treated as individuals: ‘It’s OK to be me!
