Schools this job is for

Are you self-motivated and highly organised with a good range of practical skills? If so, then read on as this may be the perfect role for you…

Viking Academy Trust is looking to appoint a CARETAKER to join our Trust Premises Team as soon as possible, to be based at Upton Junior School.

There are lots of special reasons for becoming part of the Viking Premises Team. We are a fabulous, caring school community that ensures our ‘One Childhood One Chance’ philosophy is at the centre of everything we do. To work for us, more than anything else, you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first; children will be at the heart of your work. We want our children to have an amazing school environment - inside and out and this is something you need to help us achieve!

It’s all about making sure we're safe and secure, with everything working correctly and efficiently as well as keeping the schools looking smart. Duties will include general maintenance of the school premises; out of hours opening for lettings; ensuring the security of the school, regular health and safety checks and general janitorial duties.

The successful candidate will take pride in ensuring the school is clean, tidy and a safe environment for our children and staff. They will need to be competent at DIY tasks and be able to work both on their own initiative and under the guidance of others.

We have a minibus that is in constant use and although not essential, it would be very useful to have category D1 on your licence as well as some experience of driving minibuses.

The post is for 25 hours a week.  Working hours will be discussed at interview, however, applicants must be aware that flexibility and willingness to work outside of a 9am-5pm pattern will be essential.

The contract is for 52 weeks a year and pay will be on Kent Range 3 - £18,425 per annum.

Please contact Sarah Hickman, Central Liaison Officer: clo@vikingacademytrust.com or by telephone via the school office.

The Viking Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  The post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure application to the Criminal Records Bureau and check against the ISA-barred list for children.
