EAL Co-ordinator

Term Time Position

Salary: VIAT 4

Interviews: ASAP

Valley Park School is an innovative and dynamic school, where we strive for both academic and pastoral excellence.

The following focused areas are at the fore-front of our staffs’ minds:

 Individual wellbeing, both in the academic and in the pastoral sense;

  • Excellent attendance;
  • Excellent motivation and attitude to learning;
  • Excellent academic progress and relevant intervention;
  • Identification of, and response to, individual needs (including health needs and/or SEND needs).

Due to our mission to ensure that the needs of all students are met, and due to an influx of students where English is not their first language, Valley Park school is seeking to appoint a driven, innovative, patient and enthusiastic EAL Co-ordinator to ensure that these students thrive within our school community and experience a sense of belonging, through care and support. We aspire for every student to reach their true potential and this is an excellent opportunity to be a part of supporting these students.

In line with up-to-date research, a successful candidate would use effective models of supporting in and out of class that allow students to be as independent as possible, while receiving the scaffolding they need to ensure that they can achieve. The role is varied and will involve:

  • Working to develop the progress and achievement data for students with EAL.
  • Launching initiatives across the school to support students with EAL.
  • Working 1:1 with students and supporting small selected groups.
  • Liaising with staff to ensure students receive the best possible support both in and out of lessons.
  • Preparing resources to support students with EAL.
  • Analysing impact and development of initiatives launched.
  • Keeping up to date with new information on the support of students with EAL, and attending relevant training.

As the EAL Co-ordinator, the successful candidate will communicate closely with various staff at all levels to enhance the experience of students with EAL.

This is an exceptionally exciting role, which is new to the school, responding to the ever-changing cohort. It is an opportunity to make a real difference and allow students with a language barrier, the opportunity to an equal right to the highest-level education.
