We seek to appoint an enthusiastic, proactive, positive, reliable and committed person to be our caretaker at Lympne Primary School. This role is unique in so many ways offering a degree of flexibility and reward for the right person. You will be responsible for the security, caretaking and general maintenance needs of the site to ensure the school is a safe, clean and secure environment for pupils, teachers and visitors. You will need excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature towards children of all ages.   

The main duties will include site security (locking and unlocking), regular Health and Safety checks, basic maintenance, stock taking and ordering, cleaning, refuse collection and training. Experience and knowledge of the following would be an advantage:

  • A working knowledge and experience of carpentry, plumbing or decoration.
  • An understanding of COSHH procedures.
  • Experience of carrying out basic H+S tests such as emergency lighting and water testing.
  • Operating and checking systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security.


A flexible approach to working hours will therefore be expected to support the business needs of the school, with approximately 20 hours apportioned for the role per week, all year, paid at KR 3 £19293 (Pro rata)with good holiday entitlement.

Previous experience of working in a school environment would be beneficial, along with relevant technical knowledge and an understanding of Health and Safety issues. 

This is a physical role, and we are looking to appoint someone with a hands on approach with a can do attitude, who is able to work independently as well as part of a team.  Relevant training and development opportunities will be provided, alongside a great team ethos.
