SUBJECT LEAD FOR RURAL STUDIES

Pay Scale + TLR

September 2022 start

We are looking to appoint a passionate, inspiring and dynamic teacher to lead our Rural Studies Department and award winning School Farm.

Our school farm is central to our whole school ethos and curriculum; from our primary school provision, to KS3, 4 and 5 courses. Our innovative KS3 The Great Outdoors (GO) programme teaches core values of where food comes from, food security issues and environmental sustainability. We offer Animal Care at KS4 and Animal Management at KS5. We shall be developing Horticulture in our walled garden.

Brockhill School Farm is home to a range of native and continental beef cattle, commercial sheep, rare breed pigs, free range hens and a variety of small animals. The Farm includes a walled garden, glasshouses and a small farm shop. One classroom overlooks the traditional farm yard and another is upstairs in the main farm building itself. The farm is a working farm with beef, pork and lamb supplying the local livestock market and our own Farm Shop.

We enjoy working with LEAF Education and the School Farms Network and enjoy educating the public in our work through public events.

Our Young Farmers Club is one of the most popular clubs at our school and the club enjoys showing at local agricultural schools, social and fundraising events.

Are you?

An excellent teaching practitioner, keen to ensure the highest standards and lead the further success of the department.

Passionate about outdoor learning.

Able to deliver Animal Care and Animal Management to the highest level.

Information about the school

Brockhill Park Performing Arts College is set in a stunning 24 hectare site, blessed with its own school farm, and adjacent to a Country Park in this wonderful area of outstanding natural beauty on the beautiful Kent coast.

We aim to provide a top class education to our students preparing them to fulfil not only their potential but to grasp both the challenge and their responsibilities as local, national and global citizens.

We are a non-selective, co-educational comprehensive school with specialist status in Performing Arts and Rural Dimension. We believe in a learning culture which is personalised, creative, engaging and demanding of everybody’s personal best. We strive to ensure our students are happy, positively and actively engaged as members of this school and wider community, and for them to excel in the subjects they study. During their time with us our students learn to work independently, co-operatively and creatively, to take risks in their learning and grow their understanding, so they can apply their subject knowledge to problem solve in the range of ‘real life’ situations they encounter away from the school classroom.

Our specialisms allow us to offer nationally recognised expertise in Dance, Drama, Music and Rural Sciences whilst our Creative Learning agenda permeates all areas of the school.
