Vacancy: Interim Assistant Headteacher (2 x full-time roles)

Fixed Term: September 2022 to August 2023

Grade: Competitive salary, commensurate with experience

St John’s Catholic Primary School is a Catholic primary academy and part of the Kent Catholic Schools’ Partnership (KCSP), a multi-academy trust (MAT) established by the Archdiocese of Southwark for Catholic education across Kent. Currently a MAT comprising 24 academies (19 primary and 5 secondary), KCSP is seeking to appoint two inspirational and dedicated Interim Assistant Headteachers from September 2022 due to the promotion of the current post holders.

St John’s is a four-form entry primary academy located in Gravesend, serving the Parish of St John the Evangelist and the local area.

St John’s is an inclusive academy. Its dedicated staff, helpers and governance committee members work hard to ensure that every student is supported and challenged to be their very best. Each individual is encouraged to grow spiritually and intellectually, so that unique and positive contributions can be made to society and the world. Its most recent denominational inspection in March 2015 judged it as ‘Outstanding’ and its most recent Ofsted inspection in May 2018 judged the academy to be ‘Good’ in all areas.  St John’s are seeking to appoint two new Interim Assistant Headteachers who will be committed to the vision of the school and who will help to further develop the excellent and exciting work and foundations that the academy has in place.

Reporting to the Co-Headteachers, the interim Assistant Headteachers will be class based roles (2-3 days teaching commitment) and will be expected to lead in areas of assessment, curriculum and other strategic roles to ensure that the leadership team strive together for children following the academy’s values of “Resilience, Respect, Resourcefulness, Reciprocity & Reflection”.

The successful applicants will take a role in providing inspirational Catholic education based on our shared Gospel values.  We are therefore seeking to appoint either practicing Catholics or individuals who are fully willing to support and uphold our religious ethos.

Application packs are available from the school. You are strongly encouraged to visit us and view the school in order to appreciate fully the qualities and potential that we have to offer.
