Come and join our team!

The Governing Body of St Thomas' Catholic Primary School (Voluntary Aided) are ideally looking to employ an EYFS/ KS1 leader. The leadership position comes with a TLR. Governors will however, consider applications from strong practitioners looking for a new opportunity as a class teacher in either EYFS or KS1.

Since our Ofsted inspection in 2021, we have continued upon our journey, not only to retain our 'Outstanding' status, but to further develop and enrich our curriculum, providing opportunities for creativity and risk taking - thinking outside the box!

This is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to develop within a school family which is a friendly and culturally diverse Catholic community. Applicants need not be of the Catholic faith but must be supportive of the ethos of the school.

We are looking for someone who:

as a class teacher:

  • Is an inspirational teacher who can bring out the best in the children
  • Is well organised with high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour
  • Is keen to take an active part in the wider contribution/life of the school.

as a leader (if applying for the EYFS/KS1 leader role):

  • Is able to demonstrate commitment to the vision and values of the school through their leadership
  • Has the passion, knowledge and skills to support teacher development and learning so that all pupils can reach their full potential
  • A strong teacher at any point of their career but who is able to demonstrate proven leadership skills across the specified age range and the impact of their role on school improvement.

In return, we can offer:

  • Friendly and enthusiastic pupils who are eager to learn and display outstanding behaviour as recognised by Ofsted
  • Hard working and supportive staff who are committed to the wellbeing of the pupils entrusted in our care
  • A supportive and highly effective Governing Body
  • Opportunities for career development
  • Professional development within an informal collaboration of primary schools (EduCant).

At St. Thomas' Catholic Primary School, we see it as our role to develop and nurture the 'whole child', whilst recognising their unique qualities that each individual brings to our community.

Don't take our word for it, come and visit our school (during term time only). Contact Kyla Weeden at the school for an appointment: kweeden@st-thomas-canterbury.kent.sch.uk
