Post: Pupil Premium Coordinator

 

Responsible to: Vice Principal - Pastoral and Engagement

 

Hours per week:  15 hours per week to be spread across 5 days i.e  9.30am -12.30pm Monday to Friday  

Weeks per year: Term time only

 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL DSTC SUPPORT STAFF

Safeguarding

    • To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people. 
    • To undertake annual safeguarding training.
    • To follow the most up to date version of Keeping Children Safe in Education and to use identified school procedures to Recognise and Refer.

Health and Safety

    • To take personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself, your colleagues, students and visitors.
    • To report any shortcomings in the employer’s health and safety arrangements for the protection of people at work and those who may be affected by them (this is your duty in law under the Management of Health and Safety Regulations 1999).

 

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Government provides “Pupil Premium” funding to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to close the attainment gaps between them and their peers.  The Key duties of this role include:

 

  • To act as a “champion” for these pupils with the aim of improving outcomes.  
  • To coordinate school led tutoring and national tutoring programmes.
  • To work with families, teachers, support staff, and appropriate external agencies in raising aspirations and achievement. 
  • To deliver and be accountable for ‘resourcing’ and ‘intervention’ on the Pupil Premium Action Plan 
  • To raise staff awareness and expectations/aspirations of all Pupil Premium pupils  
  • To encourage, facilitate and track Pupil Premium involvement in wider extracurricular activities
  • To coordinate and organise the purchase and distribution of revision guides for all KS4 Pupil Premium students in collaboration with Directors of Learning.
  • To promote high expectations and aspirations for Pupil Premium pupils.
  • To liaise with the Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) department relating to Pupil Premium pupils who have SEND
  • To record all Pupil Premium initiatives and interventions on the School’s computer records system (SIMS)  
  • To proactively support to improve persistent absence of Pupil Premium pupils   
  • Provide advice to parents on managing behavioural issues, boundaries and day-to-day routines.To attend relevant CPD. 
  • Such other duties as the Principal or Governors may require from time to time.
