Are you organised? Hard working? Committed to improving the environment? Cheerful and keen to make a difference?

We are looking for a committed and capable Grounds Keeper and Assistant Caretaker to help look after our wonderful school site. This is a new position and aims to make our school grounds extra special by maintaining and developing the landscape and gardens but also providing assistance to our current caretaker in the management and security of the buildings as well.

We have extensive grounds which include planted borders and grassed areas, planters and play areas. We want you to take care of these and develop them further with a big focus on ensuring educational value.

Supporting our caretaker in site management and security will involve learning about our building management systems and safety equipment to make sure everything is safe, warm and working effectively. You will also be a key holder and expected to lock and unlock as required and this may involve occasional weekends to enable access for other activities.

The school has a fleet of minibuses to be kept clean and tidy and an ability to drive these would be an advantage.

We would love to have you working for fifteen hours each week but we are prepared to consider other options and more flexible working for the right person. Please detail what your preferred hours and routines would be within your application.

If you into gardening and love helping children grow (as well as plants!) then this must be the job for you. Don't just take our word for it - arrange a visit to find out more. We look forward to meeting you!

Information about the school

Wouldham All Saints Church of England Primary School is a village school nestling close to the banks of the River Medway and close to both the M20 and M2 motorways. The school prides itself on the provision of a high quality learning experience that enables all children to feel valued and welcomed as part of the school family. We set and maintain high expectations in standards of achievement and behaviour and then share these clearly with all concerned. Partnership with parents is a priority for us as is effective working with other local schools. We have a strong Christian ethos and this is reflected in all areas of our school. The school has grown massively over the past few years and has recently moved into new, state of the art premises. We are oversubscribed with waiting lists in most year groups. We also host a satellite provision of Nexus Foundation Special School, working closely with the team to provide high quality inclusion for all.

We are committed to the safeguarding of our children as a top priority and all recruitment practices will ensure that personnel are safe to be with children. Everyone must have effective references and a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
