Advert

We are a large inclusive primary school and are looking to appoint a Nurture Practitioner from September. This is an exciting new opportunity to provide quality support for our children to promote their social and emotional development so they can form positive relationships with staff and each other to build confidence, independence and resilience.

The post holder will work directly with children from Foundation Stage to Year 6 who find school and learning difficult and so experience in Nurture provision with primary aged children is desirable. The Nurture Practitioner will work in partnership with the SENDCo and teachers to support children in building healthy relationships and positive attitudes to school to ensure they are engaged in developing positive attitudes towards learning and school.

The post is for 35 hours per week (7 hours a day, Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.00pm) and term time only (38 weeks per year). The pay scale for a practitioner undertaking a qualification in NSP is Kent Range 5 at £19,723 per annum for a full-time position which equates to approximately £15,641 per annum pro rata and will rise to Kent Range 6 upon completion of the NSP qualification. For a fully qualified NSP practitioner the pay scale is Kent Range 6 at £20,997 per annum for a full-time position which equates to approximately £16,645 per annum pro rata. In addition, the postholder will receive a payment in respect of their pro rata entitlement to Annual Leave appropriate to their grade.

We require a good standard of general education and GCSE qualifications in English and Mathematics at Grade C or above. Verification of qualifications will be required before employment can commence so please do not declare any qualifications unless you can produce the original certificate.

A formal thirty minute interview will take place with a panel comprising of a Head of School and a SENDCo. Candidates will be required to provide a thirty minute PSHCE-based activity to a group of Year 3 and/or Year 4 children, and also to undertake a thirty minute English and Maths test.

CVs will not be accepted so please complete the application form in full and explain how your skills and experience make you a suitable candidate for the role.

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The interviewee will be asked questions relating to the safeguarding of children.

We are also committed to championing staff wellbeing and all employees can access free counselling, occupational health support and Supervision sessions.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and a check against the ISA Barred List for children. All new employees to the School, including those with previous local government service, shall be subject to a 6-month probationary period.

If applicants have not been contacted by Monday 20 June they have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
