Our Aim
IPS International (IPS) is an independent training provider, dedicated to improving the outcomes for all learners, our most vulnerable learners, supporting them to achieve the best that they are capable of.
IPS delivers funded training in a range of major occupational sectors: Health and Social Care, Early Years, Engineering & Manufacturing Construction, Motor Vehicle, Business Skills & Digital.
Your Role
The role of SEND Teaching Assistant is to provide support for learners, to help them to identify and transfer skills and knowledge gained in training to a real working situation.
Working alongside our trainers, you will have an active role in assisting learners on training courses, including supporting the development of maths and English skills, helping them prepare for End Point Assessment (EPA).
You will carry out assessments on learners, using a recognized assessment system, and create Learning Adjustment Plans, working in partnership with the trainer, learner, employer and where appropriate, the parent or guardian.
You will be involved in the reviewing of our Additional Learning Needs policy and process, and where appropriate, will disseminate awareness and support to all staff.
You will design and deliver an enrichment programme to all learners, but especially those aged 16-18 years of age, promoting healthy lifestyles, appropriate relationships, and how to stay safe. This will include planning webinars, online/ face to face awareness sessions, creating displays for learner notice boards.
You will monitor, on a monthly basis all learners with an Education Health Care Plan, (EHCP), and record and report on these reviews involving both internal and external professionals.
Where appropriate you will be involved in supporting our ‘looked after’ learners, including attending care review meetings.
Requirements
This is a full-time post. You will be based in our Medway training centre, but will travel to other sites where appropriate, including the learners workplace will be required. Therefore you must be a car owner, able to drive with a valid UK Driving License.
You must have an outgoing, friendly and confident personality with a positive attitude and a passion for helping others. IPS International values team players who are willing to go above and beyond in the pursuit of our shared vision.
It would also be beneficial to be aware of Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP) and have experience of working with young people who may have had behaviour issues, additional learning requirements, alternative delivery methods and/or SEND.
You will need to be able to motivate and inspire our learners, and able to break down barriers to progression. We have a holistic approach to training young people, helping them wherever possible with the challenges that life may throw at them, and to join our team, you would need the same outlook.
A level 3 teaching assistant qualification is desirable and you will be required to undertake the level 5 SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship
