Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Safer Road User Behavioural Change Team.

The role of the Project officer is to deliver the ‘Road Safety Club’ programme within primary schools across Kent. The Road Safety Club is a fun and interactive educational programme that promotes safer pedestrian behaviour to primary school age children from Reception through to Year 6, with age appropriate lessons for each year group. Your role would be to facilitate the learning of key messages in primary schools, working with an audience which may range from small groups to school assemblies. You would also be required to contribute towards the design of lesson plans, resources and evaluation, as well as attending events with the team.

This role directly contributes to KCC’s Vision Zero strategy and aims to reduce death and life-changing injuries associated to roads in Kent.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate qualifications or experience in delivering training/educational programmes, or engaging with young children. Specialised training in aspects of behaviour change techniques will be provided to the successful candidate.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This part-time (term time only) role will involve travelling across the County to KCC Schools, often arriving for the start of the school day. The candidate will be required to work 29.6 hours, over 4 full days. There is flexibility as to which 4 days are worked, however these would need to be the same days each week. An office base will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Please note, the listed salary would be pro-rata (for part time and term time).

Interview dates are likely to be on May 1st, 5th and 6th.

If we receive a sufficient number of applications, we reserve the right to close the vacancy early.
