Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced and visionary Educational and Learning leader to join our committed team at bemix. Someone who has extensive knowledge to draw on and who works in a creative and person centred way.

  • Are you aspirational, resourceful, dedicated and resilient?
  • Are you looking for a role where you lead an education team that is mutually focused, supportive and enthusiastic?
  • Do you shine when working with an organisation that encourages autonomy and co-productive working and where your contribution will be integral to the future quality of the programme?
  • Would you thrive in an environment where you can create an inspiring curriculum and develop a range of teaching strategies tailored foryoung people with SEND?

In 2016/17 bemix delivered its first Supported Internship, while subcontracting to an Academy. In August 2017 we became a Special Post-16 Institution (SPI), also registering as a Section 41 institution. We are now in our eighth year and continue to grow stronger year on year. We have development plans to expand into other locations in the future, so we can support more young people to gain sustained and meaningful employment. Through tailored education support, mentoring and coaching and full support both prior and in the workplace, our collective aim is to overcome the many barriers young people with learning disabilities and/or autism face with employment.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Due to the decision-making and lead presence needed for this role, this is an all year round job opportunity, not term time only.We would ask that working hours need to have flexibility to respond to tight deadlines with extra hours worked, as the programme requires.

Location: Working from bemix locations (currently Medway, Swale and Canterbury) with the enthusiasm to travel the journey with us as we expand into other areas

Salary and benefits: Competitive salary, negotiable with consideration to level of skill and past experience.

bemix is an Independent post-16 specialist education provider and therefore salaries are independently set and do not run in line with traditional MPS/UPS.

If you have…

  • Accomplished experience of successfully leading both an education programme and team of people
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) and refined skills of teaching young adults 16 years + with SEND, including young people with learning difficulties and/or autistic spectrum conditions
  • Exceptional communication methods, with the capability and resilience to manage complex situations and advocate on behalf of young people and their families/ carers
  • Commitment and comprehensive understanding of protection and safeguarding of children and vulnerable young people and keeping young people safe in education
  • Ambition, energy, enthusiasm, determination and drive to innovate in how we approach teaching and learning so that the young people we work with get the most out of their time with us
  • A commitment to inclusive education and a natural affinity to want to respond to the needs of all learners

...then we’d love to hear from you!
