Job Description

We need enthusiastic team members who want to provide excellent services to young people with Down's syndrome. 21 Together highly values staff professional development, so the role will come with full, expert training. We are looking for people with an excellent rapport with young people, who can adjust their communication style according to the needs of the young person. This role would suit an energetic individual with a can-do attitude, and a love for learning new skills.

Vacancy:
21 Together run direct intervention groups for pre-school age children (ages 2-4 years). The programme is run by our Education Co-ordinator with supervision from a Speech and Language Therapist, and throughout each term, an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, and Community Support Worker visit the sessions to provide support for the children and give guidance to parents.

Each group is led by at least 2 members of 21 Together staff and has a maximum of 4 children, to allow them to get the maximum learning experience per session. The sessions use syndrome-specific approaches to learning, and these groups cover literacy, numeracy, self-help, and social-emotional skills.
These sessions run on a Tuesday during term time at our centre in Maidstone, and on a Wednesday during term time at our new location in Thanet.

We are looking for a member of support staff to help us deliver this programme under expert guidance. The role will require you to work closely with the young people with Down’s syndrome, teaching staff and speech therapists.

Hours / Days:
Every Tuesday during term time in Maidstone 09:15 - 14:15
Every Wednesday during term time in Thanet 09:30 - 14:30
Some additional hours during Easter and Summer School Holidays to support at 3-day Speech Club, as well as one-off events and activity sessions. Dates will be provided well in advance.
