Job Description

West Faversham Community Centre runs School Club @ Herne Centre, working with local schools to provide wrap around care for children attending these schools. This is in the form of a before and after school club as well as a school holiday club. The provision is OFSTED registered for primary school children from reception age upwards. This role will be full time and due to the nature of the role, the individual will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and will need to provide satisfactory references a well as proof of their right to work in the UK.

WFCA is passionate about providing safe and fulfilling childcare services, that supports working families and help children reach their full potential. As our Club lead you will take responsibility for planning the setting daily after school sessions, ensuring they are packed full of opportunities to learn through play and explore the all the characteristics of effective learning. Each day you will ensure the environment is set up to be an immersive learning environment and communicate the robust plans you have made for the session to the other staff working the session. Communication skills will be key as you will provide a vital link between parents and the school, supporting in the Childs development. Organisation skills and good record keeping will be key to ensuring the club is Ofsted compliant, you will be working closely with the Head of Youth and Employability services to deliver and evidence our aims and outcomes to be outstanding in everything we do.

Tasks
On a day to day basis the post holder is responsible for:

· Planning and delivering afterschool sessions for up to 23 children, creating an immersive learning environment in line with the themes chosen by the children. Planning in the form of learning through play ensuring every child’s individual needs and interests are met.
· Reporting to the Service Lead and Registered Person
· Following Ofsted criteria and safeguarding requirements, reporting safeguarding concerns when they arise and alerting DSL’s of any incidents.
· Logging daily activities and registers. Recording an accurate summary of each session including first aid and behaviour incidents.
· Preparing and maintaining the childcare space. Setting up the room for each session, keeping notice boards and displays up to date.
· Monitoring levels of play equipment and materials and requesting more when necessary
· Managing the behavior of children to maintain a positive and happy environment.
· Safeguard and promote the health, safety and welfare of children
· Being a point of contact for parents to discuss any issues or concerns
· Keeping parents informed of any issues relating to their child.
· Providing snacks/refreshments to the children

The After School Club Lead will report to the Head of Youth and Employability Services and the Registered Person; the ideal candidate will have:

· Senior qualification as an Early Years Practitioner or in Playwork. or experience in an Early Years school setting as an TA
· Knowledge of the EYFS
· Ability to plan and deliver engaging and fun sessions
· Will complete an enhanced DBS
· Level 2 Food safety (or will complete)
· Safeguarding training
· Paediatric First Aid training

Additional Information:
The position is 32 hours a week, 12:00pm – 6:30pm every weekday, with the hours prior to school club starting designated to the planning of the session and preparing the childcare room. Additional hours may be available in the Holidays.
Salary is full salary of £16,000 for 32 hours per week, not Pro Rata
