Are you self-motivated and highly organised with a good range of practical skills? If so, then read on as this may be the perfect role for you…

Viking Academy Trust is looking to appoint a CARETAKER to join our Trust Premises Team as soon as possible, to be based at Chilton Primary School.

There are lots of special reasons for becoming part of the Viking Premises Team. We are a fabulous, caring school community that ensures our ‘One Childhood One Chance’ philosophy is at the centre of everything we do. To work for us, more than anything else, you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first; children will be at the heart of your work. We want our children to have an amazing school environment - inside and out and this is something you need to help us achieve!

It’s all about making sure we're safe and secure, with everything working correctly and efficiently as well as keeping the schools looking smart. Duties will include general maintenance of the school premises; out of hours opening for lettings; ensuring the security of the school, regular health and safety checks and general janitorial duties.

The successful candidate will take pride in ensuring the school is clean, tidy and a safe environment for our children and staff. They will need to be competent at DIY tasks and be able to work both on their own initiative and under the guidance of others.

We have a minibus that is in constant use and although not essential, it would be very useful to have category D1 on your licence as well as some experience of driving minibuses.

Full time or part time weekly hours are available.

Working hours will be discussed at interview, however, applicants must be aware that flexibility and willingness to work outside of a 9am-5pm pattern will be essential.

The contract is for 52 weeks a year and pay will be on Kent Range 3 - £20,104

Hourly rate: £10.42 per hour raising to £11.04 per hour in September 2023.

Please contact Leonie Roke, HR Assistant: hra@vikingacademytrust.com or by telephone via the school office - 01843 861393.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. You are advised that this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and therefore this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Please be aware that schools are also required to undertake online recruitment checks on shortlisted candidates under changes to Keeping Children Safe in Legislation.

The Viking Academy Trust is an inclusive and accessible employer, we are committed to an inclusive, barrier-free recruitment and selection process. Viking Academy Trust also embraces and cultivates an inclusive, equitable and respectful workplace. We welcome colleagues with different backgrounds, perspectives and capabilities.

Information about the trust

The Viking Academy Trust is a primary only, Multi-Academy Trust consisting of three inspirational schools: Upton Junior School, Chilton Primary School and Ramsgate Arts Primary School.

Our One Childhood One Chance philosophy resonates throughout everything we do at the Viking Academy Trust.

At Viking, we make sure that our ultimate focus and core purpose remains excellent teaching and learning for every child. Our teaching is progressive and adaptive and we strive for the best outcomes for all. We invest time and training into our staff so that they can invest their skills and expertise into our children.

For children to thrive, they need to feel that they belong. Our people and our environments are warm and welcoming. Every member of our staff invests in building strong relationships with children and getting to know children well means we can focus on equity of opportunity.

This means that we can prioritise social and emotional learning along with the academic as we know that children need to learn how to be resilient, to have healthy and safe relationships and to face the world with problem solving skills.

We nurture children to become responsible citizens, ready to face the modern world and to make the most of their every potential both academically and socially. At Viking schools, we have high standards and expectations and we know how to support children to reach them.
